- This property identifies any time duration associated with the resource consumption.

• The TimeDuration field MUST be present in the record.
• The TimeDuration field type MUST be an ISO duration.

Pros:

- Each record contains all the informations necessary for the accounting
- No assumption is made on the resource usage (compared to valid duration that assumes that the used resource is constant for the validity or until a new overlapping record is generated)
- Accounting of the storage is comparable to CPU accounting (CPU Time)
- Accounting over a fixed period of time is made by just adding the records in that period (either weighted or an integral)

Cons:

- If no records are collected for a certain amount of time the storage used is zero (similar to what happens to CPU: CPT, WTC, number of jobs, etc. is zero)
- Overlapping records must be avoided
