Artifact artf2707 : (1099) Naming
Tracker: WS-DAI Issues
Title: (1099) Naming
Description:
OGSA has set out a three level naming scheme an has set up a design team to work out the detail. DAIS does not discuss
how data resources should be named. We at least need to describe how be fit in with OGSA once the naming scheme is
complete. .

We have made a statement of intent for the GGF14 specs
Abstract name = URI
Address = construct containing EPR and Abstract name

  Comment:
As any standard relating to OGSA Naming Schemes could be some way off, and anyway the "Name" property could potentially be drawn from any of a range
of existing naming schemes, I wonder if the "Name" property should provide additional information about the name, such as:

<Description, Name>

For example, the Oracle distributed database functionality supports a global logical naming scheme for databases, in which case one could have:

<Logical name of database maintained by ..., sales.electronics.mycompany.com>

Here the description is not machine-interpretable, and thus it is up to the user to work out what they can do with the name, but just providing a name
 may be unhelpful in the absence of a standard to which to conform.
