Artifact artf2696 : (1370) Provision to write back through DAIS services
Tracker: WS-DAI Issues
Title: (1370) Provision to write back through DAIS services
Description:
DAIS allows derived data, the result of a query, to be hedl by a service to be collected at some later point. However
there is no provision for data to be pushed to the service, say as an insert or update, unless this is contained in the
original data request. It would be nice if a mechanism was provided to upload data without requiring this to be
contained in the original request..

  Comment:
DAIS specs don't forbid such updates. Pending issue 1707 relates to the passing of references to update messages.

From Norman Paton:

I suspect we are not going to try to do anything about for version 1 of the specs, although a basic capability would not be so difficult. For example
, one could see how such collections could support operations of the form:

EPR.insert(DatabaseAbstractName, DatabaseTableName)

or

EPR.delete(DatabaseAbstractName, DatabaseTableName)

Not quite so sure what the corresponding operations for XML result collections would be, in the absence of an accepted update language to steal from!
