Minutes of GGF11 Session
Minutes of the PGM-RG Session at GGF11.
The session began with a reminder that we need a Secretary since Laura has moved to a co-chair position. The sign up
sheet was passed around as the GGF Intellectual Property was reviewed.
Judith gave a short summary of the GGF10 session for those who had not attended. It was at this session that the group
made changes in the way the group operates. We had documents that were not moving forward for lack of authors. The group
decided to form a Program Committee to help organize workshops and suggest topics for discussion in the sessions as
well as topics for workshops.
Judith gave a brief summary of the workshop the previous day, noting the grids represented. The Open Mic discussion
comments were reviewed and others who may have attended urged to send their comments. In the post mortem of the
workshop, it was decided that their should be closer coordination with the presenters and the organizer. Each speaker
should be given a letter' to explain what the Program Committee is expecting to the speaker to cover and the goals of
the workshop.
The next workshop was discussed. The topic will be Models for Grid Operations. The proposal is to be submitted for GGF12
. Satoshi suggested that other groups be asked to join with PGM-RG to host this workshop to present their standards.
Feedback as to how these standards are working in a production environment should be helpful. Steve suggested a gap
analyst from standards and interoperable grid systems would be useful.
Topics considered for including in the workshop:
Models for grid operations
o User support and training
o Common services (VO management, monitoring,
information, security)
o Security (security groups
Responses to compromises
o Troubleshooting
Ticket systems
How to resolve problems (debugging, ticket routing, test
suite)
Security Management (security groups)
o Certificate management, revocation, trusted groups
Grid Wide Accounting and Account management (accounting
group)
o Production-scale management; do the standards work?
Are there missing pieces? How to scale to 300K students at a
University, etc.
o Policy expression
Steve Newhouse gave a review of the survey sent to the group. What has been contributed to date looks good. Getting
input from grids not represented in PGM-RG might also be helpful. Steve will send the survey to chairs to see if
additional input can be gathered before the document is finalized.
