Minutes for GGF7 Sessions
Minutes of the GGF-7 Sessions

Session One:

Judith started the session by reviewing the Intellectual Property Guidelines, went over the planned agenda for each
session, then introduced the other two co-chairs. A list of the topics to be covered in the Best Practices document was
passed out for review.

Doru Marcusiu led the first session. Doru went over in more detail the GGF Intellectual Property Guidelines providing
URLs for more indepth information. Doru led a short discussion on the two documents the group has agreed to write: Best
Practices vs. Case Studies. Doru noted that the Case Studies could be used to write the Best Practices document. This
approach would not require a case study to follow the outline of the Best Practices document as determined at GGF-6.
Doru noted that he saw the BP document as providing general information to the grid community based on the authors'
technical expertise, experience, and input from the case studies. The Case Studies would be based on the technical
expertise and experience with respect to a specific grid and published by individuals. The group members present
indicated agreement with this approach wtih a show of hands.

A short discussion on the Best Practice document followed. The topics listed at GGF-6 were again voted by a show of
hands to be included. Doru called for a document editor to finalize the outline and coordinate the document with those
who had volunteered to be authors. The members present voted to use a document editor rather than do this in the general
 sessions. Judith volunteered to be the document editor. Doru noted duties of the document editor would be to define the
 structure of the sections, to identify the authors for each section and to integrate contributions from section authors
. Doru noted that the document should
* describe the requirement of the middleware
* describe the issues to consider
* identify existing implementation
* identify recommended implementation if any
* identify lack of implementation
* network management/device management monitoring
Doru then went over the list of those who had volunteered at GGF-6 to help author the document, getting confirmation
from members present to do this work, placing volunteer authors not present in an undertmined state.

For the Case Studies Doru used a list of questions compiled by co-chair Franz as the guidelines for writing a case study
. The members present agreed via a show of hands. Doru confirmed the committment from the volunteers present to write a
case study of their respective grids.

It was noted that the group needs one or more note-takers for these sessions. No one volunteered.

Finally, the future plans of the group were noted.
* GGF-8
	o Host a Workshop "Tools for Grid Management"
		* The presenters will be invited
		* Chosen from those abstracts submitted
	o Some sections of the Best Practice document to be reviewed
	o Some Case Studies completed
* GGF-9 in Chicago
	o Working Sessions Only for documents
* GGF-10 in Germany

Session Two:
The second session was presentations only. Franz-Joseph Pfreundt led this session.
* Presentations Given
	o Pacific-Asia Grid, Yoshio Tanaka, Japan
	o National Grid Project Infrastructure, Satoshi Matsuoka, Japan
	o UNICORE and GRIP: Production Experience, Erwin Dietman
