Minutes from 27 Aug 2004
Attending:
Cecile Madsen
Vijay Dialani
Dieter Gawlick
Susan Malaika
Chris Kantarjiev
Steve Fisher
No comments yet on XML specification.
Historical context has been lost from INFOD doc and needs to be
recaptured to make it accessible for new readers. Also need to
incorporate new ideas such as those from Vijay.
Definitions: Cecile, Susan and Chris have sent out a summary of
definition decisions and some questions that have arisen from that
decision.
Dieter proposes to review document in f2f session at Brussels. We
will probably have to do a serious rewrite after.
No significant use case progress yet.
Documents for Sep 1: INFOD spec with XML. Use case document will probably be in rough shape but suitable for "official
submission" in time for Sep 1 deadline.
Some concern about what we will do in a session regarding the
INFOD/XML spec. Suggestion is to use the short session to just
collect issues and not formulate solutions - that can wait for
Thursday morning's long session.
Cecile has a draft doc of INFOD vs WSN, not yet publishable. Plan
is to review in the group and present a few slides at one of the
Brussels sessions.
GGF Agenda:
Susan is concerned that we may not want so many sessions, especially
since there are many conflicts. Proposal is to keep Thursday morning
and one other session - that will be used to discuss the INFOD doc
as well as Cecile's slides about WSN vis-a-vis INFOD.
The GGF agenda scheduling is getting horrendous and Susan may not be able to attend the first part of the Thursday INFOD
session. Note the WSRF WSN session is scheduled for GGF Wed at 11am
Since we may not have a use case document in time, we may not be able
to have a session about use cases. Susan will investigate if we
can have a session without the doc. We will also use this time to
talk about relationships with OGSA and DAIS.
Other:
We will move our calls to Thursday at 9am pacific (one day earlier).
No one looked at Andrew Grimshaw's OGSA caching note; we will attempt
to cover it in email. It was attached to last week's minutes. See the archives:

Vijay's document: Dieter asserts that DAIS and INFOD should complement
each other, rather than be a comparison. Vijay is reworking the
document to try to align the terminology, so discussions can be had
between the two...
Next call: next THURSDAY.
AOB? No.
