PGI Execution Service with Factory and Management Endpoints Sequence Diagram (PNG)

Description: |
– An Activity Factory of the Execution Service receives from Clients requests only for Activity creation, and forwards them to one of its Activity Managers.
– The Activity Factory receives from its Activity Managers only responses concerning Activity creation, and forwards them back to the Client.
– For all requests concerning an already created Activity, the Client does NOT contact the Activity Factory anymore, but the adequate Activity Manager.
– So, the Activity Factory is less likely to be a bottleneck and a SPOF (Single Point Of Failure).
– In order to contact the Activity Manager, the Client has to extract the URL of the Activity Manager from the Activity ID.
– In order to ease the work of Clients, the Activity Manager continues to manage the Activity for the Client until the end of the Activity, even if the Activity Manager has forwarded the Activity for execution to another Execution Service (in which case the Activity Manager marshalls forth and back).
– Therefore, PGI must precisely describe how to extract the URL of the Activity Manager from the Activity ID.
