Title: Additional metric type 'Trigger'
Description: 
For metrics which get called on some event, but do not really have a value, 'Bool' is currently used.  However, it is 
not defined what that metric signifies if the value is 'False'.

Better/Cleaner would be to use a 'Trigger' or 'Event' type, which has an empty value and unit.

An example is 'Checkpoint'.
