Title: (1081) Resource Management in OGSA
Description:
CMM-WG

This work has been partly done as a "design team" of the OGSA-WG, thus its contents are part of OGSA, and part of this
work is being used in the OGSA-WG documents. This GWD-I contains the complete explanation of OGSA's management framework

Thanks for outstanding work on this document. It seems
all the recommended changes have been applied or addressed,
and the document now seems to be very complete and
consistent.

This will be GFD #045.

As GGF Editor, I approve this document for publication.

Thanks very much to the author & WG members
for your efforts on this document!

Greg:

Here is version 28, which *should* be the final one. I'll "bless" it in one week, in case there are no more comments. My guess is that there won't be
, after my paranoid nitpicking (on the other hand, I'm sure that you will have comments :-). BTW, all the changes since the public comment are in the
document -- please use the MS-Word toolbar pull-down menu to get the comments shown.

The timing is right to release it in tandem with the two OGSA documents. BTW, Jem and Andreas are asking for a GFD number for the CMM document so that
they can reference it. Could I get one? (Uh, 45?).

I met with Fred on Jan 14. This document is making good progress, and should be done within the next month or so. I do not think the scope of
changes will require further public comment.

I re-started work on the document. See:

http://www-unix.gridforum.org/mail_archive/cmm-wg/2004/12/msg00002.html

I'm posting this comment just FYI. No, Greg, version 26 is not ready for you to look at it yet. Far from it.

Greg, what do you think of the idea of a teleconference with you? I think that it should be the most efficient way to have some of our questions
answered.

Regards, Fred Maciel.

Pasting an email from Fred Maciel, as an update. Changes to this document are in process.

...
A week ago, when David came to the Bay Area I discussed everything him, and posted the plans for the document to the CMM-WG mailing list:

Because my comments were all fairly minor and were generally accepted by Fred Maciel & David Snelling, we would like to go ahead and put this document
into public comment. David and I will insert our comments/feedback on this document, so that other readers don't spot the same issues.

Greg, welcome as the GGF editor. I had heard about your excellent qualifications, and your comments show them very well... :-)

I browsed rapidly through the comments, and I agree with them. However, I have just moved from Japan to the U.S. and, to put it shortly, things are a
mess (read: I don't even know how to open the trunk of the car I got). I'll edit the document as soon as possible (sometime next month).

Thanks for this document, Fred. This includes valuable information, and is essentially ready for public comment. I am attaching a .doc with some
suggestions via Word's "track changes." Most are very minor, but the recommended changes to the References section will probably take over an hour to
apply. If you agree, perhaps you can make another draft which we will place into public comment without further delay.

  Comment:
This document presents a basic management overview and then analyses OGSA interms of it management requirements. The results indicat that more focus
on management is required in OGSA.

The document is very well done from a technical perspective and I recommend that it go head for Public Comment. It looks good enough in terms of
editorial issues that a careful editor's review could be conducted in paralle with Public Comment.

There are several activities that could benefit from having access to this document at this time, e.g. OGSA V2 development, WSDM V1.0 finalization,
and Inter-Standards organization co-ordination.

Dear Author or Draft Editor-

Thank you for submitting your draft to the GGF Editor! In most cases the draft
will be assigned to an Area Director for review as the first step in the document
publication process.

The URL provided with this note allows you to track your submission and to
communicate with the GGF Editor or Area Director(s) who are reviewing the
draft. At the very bottom of the tracker display (web page) a detailed log of all
actions related to this submission is available.

You may also wish to alert your colleagues that the draft has been submitted, and from their GridForge accounts they may wish to monitor this item in
order to receive email any time action is taken regarding this submission.

Informational and Experimental drafts are reviewed by the GGF Editor and one
or more Area Directors. The GGF Editor will determine whether the draft is
ready for public comment, or if there are items for the author(s) to address
prior to public comment. This initial review generally takes no more than two
weeks.

Community Practice and Recommendations Track drafts require a GFSG review
prior to public comment. This can add 2-3 weeks to the initial GGF Editor
review depending on current workload of the GFSG.

Please do not hesitate to inquire about the status of your submission at any time by way of comments added to this tracker item, which will be
automatically emailed to the individual who appears in the "assigned to" field.

Thanks very much-
GGF Editor
