Stacey, you have published the wrong document.
The 6-page introduction is just the header;

as I wrote in my previous post, the real document is:

http://www.cs.vu.nl/~kielmann/gfd-i.39.pdf

(and it is too big for upload to gridforge)

Aha - sorry, I understand now. Please go ahead and upload the .doc you use for the front-matter, then let us know a URL to get the final, complete
PDF. There are only a few small things I would like to ask:

1. Add the "39" indicator to the page header, with GFD rather than GWD (final document, versus working document): GFD-I.39

2. In the Abstract, "papers that have been accepted" should probably be "papers that were presented", right?

3. Under section 4, you have "..." at the end of the first line. It looks like you meant to add some other words here.

4. The intro section has page numbers in the center bottom, but the papers section has page numbers in the upper right. Could this be made consistent
?

These are all small changes, I hope. Thanks again for your work on this submissions!

Greg, thanks for your quick reply.
However, there is no overall DOC file.
Submitted papers I only have in PDF. What I do/did is compiling the overall proceedings using Adobe Acrobat.
What I would like you to do is look through the first pages of the PDF file I referred to with my previous comment, up until the first paper starts.
Please let me know if you would want me to change anything but putting in the report number GFD-I.39

Thanks.

Sorry for the trouble, Thilo. I think the upload size limit is still in place, but here's what we'll do:

1. This document is now through the GFSG final review, and approved (by me, the editor) for publication.

2. Please put the .doc up for download somewhere, or email it to me:
newby AT arsc.edu

3. We'll prepare the final PDF (we like to keep the .doc too, in case of minor formatting issues in the future).

Thanks for your work on this! It looks like a fine set of proceedings, and a worthwhile addition to the GGF document series.

Amazing how things can go wrong...
The DOC file attached is outdated and should have never been here at all. Simultaneously, I cannot find the right file (the PDF) attached here.

Again, this file is available at
http://www.cs.vu.nl/~kielmann/ggf8-ws-apps-updt-v2.pdf

I cannot attach this file as GridForge refuses to do so (too big).

Could someone please tell me how we can finalize this issue?
Thanks!

Please see tracker #783. This document is in final 15-day GFSG review until ~December 1.

The .doc is a 4-page introduction/preface to the workshop proceedings. URLs in this tracker reference the actual proceedings. Both are part of the
same document, which will be published as GFD-I.39.

I agree w/ Stacy. A duplicate tracker did exist at one point
but that was removed; this is the correct tracker.

This document completed the 30d public comment period on
29 Oct 04 and got several positive comments. The GFSG Final
Review Period technically ended on 13 Nov 04. Hence, I think
the document is ready for publication and the ball is in the
GGF Editor's court, i.e., I'm changing the priority to 1 and the
status to "Final Editor Review".

There was discussion on the GFSG call today that Satoshi thought that this document may be a duplicate and have already been published. I do not see
this document as one of the published documents. This document was written together with APPS-RG and UPDT-RG. Recently UPDT-RG published GFD.33 but it
 is not the same document.

There was a duplicate tracker for this document but that tracker was closed so this is the right tracker.

Therefore, this document is not a duplicate and should continue through the pipeline. If I am wrong please let me know.

Please do not put this version up for public comment!
Similar comments had already been raised by Craig Lee.
A while ago, I had addressed them and produced a revised version.
For a reason I don't know, that new version ended up with a new tracker item, 1092. That tracker item now is in the "trashcan" category :-(

Anyway, the document is too big for upload into gridforge.
The definite document is at:

  Comment:
The document as is currently lacks refence to the JOG issue 2 whereupon the papers have been already published, but rather says "it will be published
in a future JOG". This must be updated as well as giving a URL reference to the issue itself as JOG is an online journal.

I am confused as to whether the 4-page document will become the GGF document, or the entire 127 page proceedings at
http://www.zib.de/ggf/apps/meetings/ggf8/ggf8-ws-apps-updt.pdf

If it is the former (that is only the 4 page version +URL reference) the document currently lacks any abstract of the published/presented papers.
Although not a mandate at the time for future WSs we should be clear on actually giving more detailed account of each presentations as well as the
dicussions that came about thereof. Since in this case the GROC document did not mandate that at the time, however, the shortcoming need not be
corrected by say adding abstracts of each paper if it proves to be too hard or there are copyright issues.

We should move this to public comment since the shortcoming above are minor and can be easily addressed. The updates are really mandatory, however.

It is important to GGF that the work that has gone
into preparation of this draft result in a published
document.

While this draft is still considered to be in the editor
pipeline for publication, we have placed the draft in
the "Waiting for Author Action" tracker. For
administrative purposes this tracker is used to hold
all drafts that have been pending action from
authors for 30 days. Examples include documents
without editable source, missing information, or
edits requested by the editor or Area Directors.

If no action is taken within 90 days the draft will
time out and be returned to the authors.

To reanimate this document, authors should
complete the requested actions and notify the
Area Director or Editor (editor@ggf.org).

Authors are encouraged to review the actions
requested so that this draft can be advanced in
the publication pipeline.

  Comment:
I have already run into references to at least one of the\papers in the workshop, so that is always a positive indication. ;->

Since this is an informational doc that is
essentially the proceedings for the workshop, it only
makes sense for me to comment on the introductory
remarks, and not each of the papers! Hence, I have
this comment: in the foreword you list six topics
that were of interest to the workshop. How well did the
eleven papers in the workshop address these issues?
What was learned from the eleven papers in terms
of things that worked and didn't work? It might be
useful to add a paragraph (or two or whatever) that
gives a little of this analysis and insight for the
GGF readership. Also, if the Journal of Grid
Computing issue has already come out (or if
you know the issue volume and number) then
perhaps this could be added as well.

Finally, here are some structural comments.
The papers themselves could go in an appendix.
You are listed as the only author on the title
page, but multiple people are listed in the Author Information
section but they are really the workshop organizers. It might
be nice to put the workshop organizers, program committee
names, and the list of papers in the body of the document,
before the Security Considerations, IP Stmt, and
Full Copyright Notice. (These sections always signal
to me "this is the end of the paper; stop reading"
but this is not the case. ;-)

  Comment:
This doc is essentially the proceedings for the Grid Apps
and Programming Tools workshop at GGF8. Comments
were sent back to the workshop organizers and GWD-I
authors to add a some analysis and insight for how well the
papers presented addressed the goals of the workshop
and what was learned. Pending these minor revisions,
we could advance this doc in the pipeline.

PDFs seems to be the only way to produce a workshop proceedings.

The proceedings consists of 4 pages introduction which has been written in Word. (which is attached)
And these 4 pages are the ones where editing makes sense.
(The rest are the papers from the authors.)

The GGF editor could edit this Word document and send it back to Thilo if changes need to be made. Thilo can then generate a new, overall PDF file
from the edited Word file and the individual papers.
