Minutes 03 Mar 2005
Attending: Abdeslem Djaoui, Steve Fisher, Vijay Dialani, Dieter Gawlick, Cecile Madsen, Chris Kantarjiev (minutes)
Welcome Arjun Shankar from Oak Ridge National Lab
regrets from Susan Malaika
ORNL is doing SensorNet, building wide area infra for sensor data capture,
etc, between agencies. Arjun is nterested in INFOD as part of this...
Short discussion about "what is really a consumption?". We decided
to put this off until our meeting in Seoul.
Where do operational commands (such as start/stop propogation)
belong? How does OGSA do active management of resources? Typically,
the resource is expected to be queryable. We propose to use a
MIB-style structure ("resource properties") at the
producers/consumers/disseminators to control them. We would prefer
not to burden the registry with this functionality.
OGSA is currently proposing to use the OASIS WS-DistributedManagement
for this functionality for hardware-style management, but it might
be too low-level for INFOD.
- Cecile will define interfaces
- Abdeslem will define the resource properties
Steve requests a meta-UML-style drawing which shows how the
webservices & interfaces live together. Cecile tried this but
the cross-connected lines were completely overwhelming, so
the table on page 13 in section 3 is the preferred result.
Requirements on the Transaction group will be moved to a separate
white paper.
- Chris will send a paragraph about the UML intentions for sec 7, and work with Vijay to get *something* in there.
- Vijay will write a rough draft about identity management.
We are still really struggling because the underlying infrastructure
(from OGSA and others) are in flux - we need to have hard definitions
of things for our interfaces, but they aren't yet defined well...
No progress to report on use cases.
Next conference call Mar 24.
