Grid categorisation and Grids and governmental policies
1. Grid categorisation (Cluster Grids, Collaboration Grids and Data Centre Grids):

The categories Cluster and Data Centre Grids appear to relate more to a way that the resources are organised while the
category Collaboration Grids appears to relate to a main generic effect of the deployment of Grid-technology that is the
increase of (machine and human) collaboration. The three categories appear to address, therefore, characteristics of
grids on different levels. It is proposed the use of another term in the place of “Collaboration Grids”.

2. It is proposed to add a section addressing the role of grids in relation to governmental policies (e.g. mention that
Grid-technology brings the power of information to more citizens etc) and the specific role of the OGF in this picture (
e.g. that the OGF ensures a level playing field for all stakeholders in the field). The addition of such text could help
perhaps the effort of OGF to approach national governments.
