  2. AOB

Participants

  • Sergio Andreozzi (INFN)
  • Marco Canaparo (INFN)
  • Laurence Field (CERN)
  • Felix Ehm (CERN)
  • Stephen Burke (RAL)
  • Gerson Galang (GridAustralia)
  • Balazs Konya (Lund University)
  • Paul Millar (DESY)

Minutes

an applicationEnvironemnt can be available only to a subset of the execEnv

  • sc1: answered by presence of appEnv
  • sc2: answered by Version attr
  • sc3: answered by presence of AdminDomain
    • Balazs: how efficient will the query since several level of nesting
    • reconsider this when discussing XML rendering
  • sc4: can have a cluster accessible by VO a,b,c and an applicEnv only available to a
    • this needs a relationship between appEnv and Policy
  • sc5: an application environment, can contain different executables with different seq/parallel execution capabilities;
    • request to add an "Executable" class with properties: LocalID, Name, Parallel (boolean)
-------------------
Executable
-------------------
LocalID: string
Name: string
Parallel: boolean
-------------------

Laurence: suggest to check with JP how they deal with this issue; also the WN environment in GIN is dealing with this kind of information; Balazs and Laurence support the idea of keeping the applicationEnvironment simple

after the discussion we agree to remove the ModuleName attribute and keep the EnvironmentSetup; the value can start either with prefix module: or softenv: as follows: EnvironmentSetup: module:MODULENAME
  • scx: request for LicenseType: enumeration: commercial, opensource - the type of license for this application environment

  • sc8: request for a property of applEnvironment
ParallelType: enumeration: mpi, opennmp, ... the type of supported parallel execution
  • sc7/9/10/11: request for:
-------------------
ApplicationEnvironmentPolicy
-------------------
MaxCPUs
MaxJobSeats
MaxUserSeats
-------------------

-------------------
ApplicationEnvironmentState
-------------------
FreeCPUs
FreeJobSeats
FreeUserSeats
-------------------

they could be added in two different classes so they won't impact the implementation for those grid infrastructure that do not want to use these attributes

Actions for Gerson by 22/1:

  • talk to JP and verify sc5 proposed solution and their use case;
  • check if WN environment work doc defined by GIN solves the problem (seems no because you need the info at scheduling time)
  • check if sc6 is fine with JP
  • check sc7/9/10/11 with JP
  • send values for the enumeration of NetworkInfo important to AustralianGrid
  • eu.int.grid asked for: gigabit ethernet, myrinet, infiniband
  • to send examples based on XML rendering that CNAF will circulate shortly
