Notes

!Result Codes

Everyone has reviewed the document. Aaron/Jeff are in favor. Michael brings up a point about the use of 'informational' codes, specifically 'backend_service_not_available'. Do we need this? Jason had added it as a idea for when a service may still be able to complete, but something may not be right (alters the data?). Aaron adds that it depends on how we interpret result codes (informational vs hard error). Jeff adds that response codes tell you how to interpret data (how its done in HTTP).

Michael mentions something from the 'success' breakdown, 'query_accepted' - would this be informational too? Jeff/Michael go back and forth for a couple of mins. Jeff taking the position that it would be used in addition to a successful query (with results). Jason asks how HTTP handles informative things - usually responds when an informational post/get (not common) are used. Roman thinks that it may be too general to use.

It is decided that before we remove any one thing, we should look at all proposed result codes and see how to tie them to existing codes. Roman and Slawek will take the first cut with the LS and RRDMA. Aaron will do the same for pSPS Services.

The 2nd parameters proposal (namespaced datum) was preferred.

!Merge Chaining

Do we need it? Everyone on the call says 'no'. It will live in NM-Base still (just not NMC-Base). Will take to email list.

!Document Progress

Not a lot. Thanks to roman for providing examples. Jason will have more time in 2 weeks. Others should keep working.

!Meeting Times

In 2 weeks is bad for Internet2 people (annual meeting). Will meet again in May.

Next Meeting

May 13th, 2010 - 15:00 UTC

Actions

  • Roman/Slawek to alter result codes document - go through and map resutl codes to actual used codes. Aaron to help.
  • Work on the document!
