DEISA - Australian Grid Interoperation

@ Booth: NIC - John von Neumann Institute for Computing (Booth #2633)

Organized by Andrea Vanni (CINECA) and Graham Jenkins (Monash)
Supported by EPCC
Contact: Andrea Vanni
LRZ would like to participate in the demo (and we are ready, too)

Demonstration of a small job workflow between DEISA and Australian Grid (Monash).

The Demonstration is planned to consists of the processing of a small workflow employing the NAMD molecular dynamics suite. It will involve several DEISA sites (currently, CINECA and LRZ are definitely planned). Jobs will be formulated in JSDL.

Within the workflow a number of compute intesive jobs are planned to be submitted to DEISA sites with the help of the DESHL UNICORE command line interface. At the same time a similar number of jobs will be submitted via WS-GRAM or GRAM to the AU Grid and executed primarily at Monash. Output from the Australian jobs will be moved to the DEISA GPFS filesystem via GridFTP and post-processed at CINECA. These results again could be distributed again to a place still to be determined and/or added to some Bioinformatics archive.

  • Application NAMD
  • JSDL as description language
  • 5 compute intensive jobs on DEISA Grid (via DESHL)
  • 5 compute intensive jobs on AU Grid (via WS-GRAM or GRAM)
  • AU Grid output files moved via GridFTP on DEISA using CNE GridFTP installation on Internet
  • Postprocessing on DEISA
  • Distribution of the results via GridFTP
  • Archiving data somewhere on Bio-info archives

Update requested on: 2007-10-29 (Andrea) by Morris via Email

Response from Andrea on 2007-10-29: Demo is basically ready to Go! Only minor problems with firewalls remain.
